Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) Most Innovative Event

First awarded in 1999. Last awarded 2003. In 2004 the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health (CAMIMH) assumed coordination of MIAW.

2003
Je t'aime pareil a docudrama, presented basic information about the nature of mental illnesses and how to get help through local and regional mental health services in Quebec. The film was produced and disseminated by a group of mental health organizations from Thetford Mines, Quebec: La Croisée, Le Havre, the Centre locale de services communautaires Frontenac and the Centre hospitalier de la région de l'Amiante.

2002
The national radio, TV, magazine and newspaper ad campaign to combat the stigma attached to mental illness was developed and disseminated by The Canadian Psychiatric Research Foundation (CPRF).

The weeklong Reach Out to Prevent Suicide awareness campaign, organized by the Parkland Mental Health Promotion Committee, reached out to 13 Manitoba communities simultaneously.

2001
The play Starry, Starry Night was organized by All Nations International Theatre Society, the Calgary Foundation and Schizophrenia society of Alberta Partnership Program of Calgary, the Alberta Conference and media campaign, and the Association des parents et les amis de malades nationnels du centre du Quebec Inc., Drummondville, Quebec.
