CouncilsThe Council of Academies represents the subspecialty practice interests of psychiatry within the CPA. There are currently four academies - the Canadian Academy of Psychiatry and Law, the Canadian Academy of Geriatric Psychiatry, the Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Canadian Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine. The Academies are autonomous bodies affiliated with the CPA and are represented on the CPA Board of Directors by the Chair of the Council.

The Council of Provinces provides a national forum through which provincial representatives can address matters of provincial or national interest for information, review, discussion, opinion, advice, direction, support or action in the areas of psychiatry, mental health, or public policy. The Council consists of ten representatives from the provincial associations. The chair of the Council of Provinces sits on the CPA Board.
