Additional Instructions: Papers and Posters

  • Paper and poster abstracts must provide sufficient information for blind review. Abstracts involving research must include the following: a concise introduction providing background information and a clear statement of the rationale and purpose of the study; a methodological description; and a summary of the results, conclusions and a brief discussion.
  • New research submissions may be in either paper or poster format. Abstracts for other types of presentations including multimedia, reviews, program descriptions, new theoretical constructs, or treatment approaches must provide a brief background of the topic and a clear statement of purpose followed by a synopsis of the main text and relevant concluding remarks.
  • Paper presentations will be limited to 10 minutes, leaving five minutes (15 minutes total) for open discussion.
  • Posters will receive one 4’ x 4’ poster board. Poster presenters will be assigned times to set-up, to present and to remove posters. These times will be confirmed in your acceptance letter. Charts, graphs, photos and text should be mounted on lightweight material. The CPA will not be responsible for posters which have not been removed by the specified take-down time.
  • In 2018 we will have two categories of posters: research poster and an early investigator poster. The research poster is our traditional category and can be submitted by anyone. The early investigator poster is geared towards medical students, students in other health care programs, psychiatry residents and early career psychiatrists (years 1-3), one of whom must be the presenter.
