This series of updates aims to provide healthcare professionals with an evidence-based overview of multiple topics within the psychiatric domain. Each half-day session aims to cover important topics such as diagnosis review and update, treatment/therapeutic use and application and local perspectives and resources as it pertains to that sessions’ focus. This course will be structured as a self-assessment program eligible for Section 3 MOC credits.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the end of this course, learners will be equipped to:
diagnose alcohol use disorder (AUD) in patients across the lifespan
identify medical and psychiatric co-morbidities of AUD
describe specific concerns about AUD in the adolescent and senior populations
describe the pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment of AUD
discuss the advantages and disadvantages of abstinence versus harm reduction in the treatment of AUD
identify local resources for the treatment of AUD
