Rôles CanMEDS :

  1. Professionnel
  2. Érudit
  3. Leader

À la conclusion de cette activité, les participants seront en mesure de : 1) Recognize the purpose of a curriculum vitae (CV) in professional development; 2) Evaluate their own and others’ CVs to identify strengths and areas for improvement; and 3) Prepare an action plan to enhance their CV to best meet their professional goals.

Trainees often struggle with how best to construct their curriculum vitae (CV); however, this is a vital skill to develop in order to secure training opportunities, awards, funding, and jobs. In this session, participants will learn how to most effectively “advertise” themselves and highlight their accomplishments — enabling readers to easily discern attributes and strengths — through an optimally prepared CV. After an initial didactic presentation on the key components of a CV (including recommended structure and content), attendees will be divided into breakout groups, where they will have the opportunity to share their current CVs, ask specific questions, and receive tailored feedback from peers and faculty mentors on how to improve. This will also provide a chance to review the CVs of staff psychiatrists, including those who have recently graduated, as well as those further along in their career trajectories.
