Social Activities

Ready to reconnect with friends and colleagues?

The CPA annual conference isn’t just an opportunity to catch up on the latest in clinical practice and research or your CPD credits: it’s also an unparalleled opportunity to reconnect and socialize with colleagues in-person after two years of virtual meetings.

To welcome you back, enjoy a beverage and some nibbles on us during the Welcome Reception on Thursday Oct. 19 starting at 5:00 p.m. in the Pavilion Ballroom Foyer. All delegates receive a ticket to the reception included with their registration.

We have also built-in dedicated time for you to network and catch-up with friends and peers. From 1:30 – 2:15 p.m. each day, the Pavilion Ballroom and Junior Ballroom foyers will feature a variety of interactive experiences including games and a variety of creative activities. We will also have a photographer on hand for you to get an updated professional head shot taken.

There are two special events for residents, trainees and early career psychiatrists:

On Friday Oct. 20 at 1:30 p.m., teams of up to five residents each will square off in the Resident Trivia Contest to compete for the glory of program bragging rights as well as for prizes. All residents are welcome to watch the contest as a member of the audience and cheer for their favourite trivia team.

Later on Friday afternoon, there will be a social event for residents and early career psychiatrists starting at 5:00 p.m. in the Constellation room (34th floor, North Tower). Come meet your fellow trainees, and enjoy a selection of hors d’oeuvres while taking in a spectacular 360º view of Vancouver! Residents and early career psychiatrists are encouraged to sign up for this event when registering for the conference.

Closing out the conference is the President’s Dinner and Awards Gala on Saturday evening. Over a three-course meal, we will recognize award winners and pass the chain of office from Dr Chaimowitz to Dr Casiano before opening the dance floor. Residents and trainees get special pricing on tickets, so don’t forget to add yours when registering.
