Experts From Canadian Consensus Conference Release Statement
on Improving Mental Health Transitions

A distinguished 13-member “Jury” chaired by psychiatrist Dr. Alain Lesage from the University of Montreal summarized the evidence and made recommendations in a Consensus Statement on how to improve the ongoing transition to community-based services for people with severe and persistent mental illness. The Statement makes 21 detailed recommendations and six overarching recommendations and is intended to inform and guide policy and practice.

Mental Health Core Competencies for Physicians
The CPA, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the Canadian Medical Association, the Mental Health Commission of Canada and the College of Family Physicians of Canada release a report outlining mental health core competencies for all physicians.

The Canadian Psychiatric Association welcomes the Federal Court of Appeal decision to reject the federal government's application for a stay on the recent refugee healthcare court ruling. Last July CPA had asked the government not to appeal.
